Katie Pine is an Associate Professor in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) and an affiliate faculty member in ASU’s Design School and College of Global Futures as well as a Research Collaborator at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Her interdisciplinary work lies at the intersection of health informatics, organization studies, health services research, and public health. Katie has conducted multiple research projects in the public safety domain, such as current NSF-funded projects on understanding the present and designing the future of community risk reduction for EMS tools and best practices for identifying and ameliorating AI bias in fire service deployments of AI tools. She earned a PhD in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) and was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Informatics at UCI and at Intel Labs. Outside of work, Katie is a Reserve Firefighter with the Orange County Fire Authority in California.
