The presentation entitled “State of Continuous Improvement: Using the Accreditation Process to Hone Your CRR Efforts” emphasizes developing and applying methodologies to refine specific and intentional goals to mitigate risk across your community. Participants will learn to examine data to fine-tune measurable goals over time, ensuring that their risk reduction strategies are effective, adaptive, and responsive. By embracing the concept of continuous improvement, attendees will appraise their department's current risk reduction efforts, better aligning them with community needs and accreditation standards. The session will also include examples from the Wilmington, NC Fire Department, illustrating how honing Community Risk Reduction (CRR) goals and strategies can initially be messy but become improved over time. This easy to identify with presentation will equip participants with ideas and thought processes necessary to implement targeted strategies that address specific risks while enhancing a culture of accountability and excellence, ultimately strengthening their department’s ability to meet evolving challenges, including the quest to become (or maintain) accreditation status, and work towards an improved quality of life within the community they serve.
