Provide vital information into how community leaders including first responders need to be aware of the hazards of incidents involving electric vehicles (EV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Identify what measures responders might need to take at an EV or BESS incidents including risk management (decision-making process), and proper personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection. What is the right mode of operation for the incident, Intervention, Defensive or Non-Intervention based on Life Safety, Property Conservation and/or Environmental Protection. How is the community impacted by these types of incidents, air quality, ground water concerns and soil impacts. Provide several case studies to show actual incidents and how they were handled by responders, (no criticism but lessons learned by the responders). Proper PPE requirements for responders including respiratory protection including fire, law enforcement, towing and recovery and environmental response personnel.
